Welcome to our new Daydream Series where Romontio girls show us the places around NYC where they daydream the most 🤍 Come along with us as Shaman shows us her favorite cafe in Williamsburg, Washington Square Park, and her place of work and community, the Spaniard.

Café Miguel

“My favorite place to daydream might be at this really cute cafe called Cafe Miguel right in the corner of my apartment. It's really nice because they have this beautiful backyard and ever since I moved to New York it's been hard to like get in touch with nature and also it's a Mexican cafe and I'm part Mexican and so it feels like a little bit like I'm back at home in California with the nature around me. Also, I get to munch on some Mexican food so it brings back childhood memories. I love to daydream there and in the nature.”

“I daydream a lot about my company that I started Sha-Sha Charcuterie and I think about ways that I can grow that. I really want to be a successful mother, too and I want a family and so I mostly daydream on like the steps I can take to have like the perfect family and provide for my kids. I know I'm so young but that's genuinely my dream.”

“My dream is genuinely to make people happy. Like, yeah, I do want a family. That's my goal in life. But I love putting a smile on people's faces and I like planning something and being the reason why everyone is smiling. And so that's why I like planning events. I like catering because the fact that I put all of that hard work together and they all enjoyed it.”

Washington Square Park

I really like being in Washington Square Park or any park in general just because it is hard to like find a really peaceful environment in New York. Even though it is a little bit chaotic at times at those parks and just being in greenery makes me really happy and like content. It help balance out my moods a lot.”

“I love peaceful environments but I also am such an extrovert and I love people. New York is the perfect place to be for that. I lived in Manhattan for a while and that was just too much energy for me and so when I choose to be in these safe daydream spaces it really is because I feel a sort of peace. The people in New York- everyone feels like they're also dreaming around me and they also feel like they have a goal so it feels like we're all in this together.”

The Spaniard

“The West Village, that's another safe space of mine I love to daydream in. I work there, so it feels like a village of community, not just only where I work, but just the area in general. I walk around that area a lot, and I feel very calm. I feel a source of comfortability when I daydream around the West Village. I don't know why I feel like the community and everyone who walks around in the West Village adds a sort of comfort to me. It just feels very calming.”

“I think when I was a kid I struggled a lot with the comfortability of being alone. So when I first moved to New York it didn't really help much because there were people around me at all times and it was something that I was just used to. But I found myself getting lost in who I was and getting attached to people because I felt like I needed their presence to be happy. And so these spaces are quite important to me because I found a new love for myself and being comfortable with my own presence.”
